Hello everyone! Welcome to my blog.
Teenagers are fascinating individuals caught between childhood and adulthood, navigating a unique stage of development characterized by exploration, self-discovery, and identity formation.
They also pass through some physical as well as mental changes. Their hormones are imbalanced, they become more emotional and they experience many things. In this phase, they are also very confused. They have to make many important decisions like which career to choose etc.
They also grow many misunderstandings and misbeliefs which every teenager thinks but after when they grow up they realize how wrong they were. They are very conscious about everything in this phase. They grow many misunderstandings in their brains as they are overthinkers.
In this blog, I will tell you some common misbeliefs of teenagers. So without any further ado let's start the blog.
1. Thinking your friends are everything.
Having friends, enjoying, hanging out and spending time with your friends is ok and it's a must for everyone. Fun and joy are a must, especially for teenagers.
From a child to a senior citizen everyone has friends. Children's friendships are unconditional, adults' friendships are always related to work, and senior citizens' friendships are because they share similar life experiences, challenges, and interests. But Teenagers often place immense value on their friendships, because they think no one can support and relate with them. Their friends are their biggest supporters.
They don't realize how are their friends. Are they good or bad? These relationships can profoundly influence their self-esteem, confidence, and overall well-being, shaping their perspectives and behaviors as they transition into adulthood. So, Trust in limits.
Choose your friends wisely and make sure that they will help you in your tough times. Because most of the time friends are of no use. Those who are ever useful to you are your family. Don't value your friendship more than family. Learn to distinguish between good and bad people. People around you influence you and you become like them. Be with the people you want to become.
2. Listening to the heart rather than the mind/brain.
As I said people become very emotional as they enter their teenage phase. So, it's obvious that they make decisions often based on their emotions. And it's not their mistake. Everyone does it.
This can be a huge problem if you become more emotional and you make all the decisions based on your emotions. Emotionally made decisions are mostly the wrong decisions. Think logically and practically sometimes.
For example: as a teenager, you should focus on your studies and career but most teenagers become emotional, they can't control themselves as they are adolescents and they focus on their relationship with their gf/bf. One more example, You want to be healthy but your heart says "Eat ice cream today friend. It's just a matter of one day, just for one day" but one day becomes one month. This was a common example but in many such examples, teenagers are making wrong decisions emotionally.
This is how logically made decisions can be good for you and emotionally made decisions are bad for you. Be practical. Try to control yourself and your emotions too.
3. Have fun, teenage never comes again.
Now, this is a huge problem thinking teenage is for enjoyment. Thinking you will never be able to enjoy as much as you can in your teenage.
Every teenager thinks teenagers come only once in life and let me enjoy it. But why don't you think teenage comes only for once why waste your time on bullshit things. Make the miracles happen in your teenage.
Work hard in your teenage and adulthood to enjoy the rest of your life. Yes, I agree teenagers never come again. You should enjoy your life have fun and spend quality time with your family and friends but within limits, the limitations apply more to friends. Have fun with your family as much as you can and make your bond strong with your family.
Become the person you want to become from now. Don't have a mindset such as "Enjoy now and Whatever has to be done will be seen". Don't depend on tomorrow, do it now. Whether you want to become successful or you want to learn something or you want to focus on your health and want to exercise. Perfect time doesn't exist. No matter what it is do it/start it from now.
Make a routine because what you do, what you think now, so you will become. Every thought we think is creating our future. If you see yourself living in abundance you will attract it and if you see yourself as helpless, destitute and poor, then you will attract it too. Be positive about yourself and do the best things happen. Make yourself proud
4. Underestimating health and wellness.
This is a must for every teenager because most teenagers don't pay more attention to their health. But you forget if you are not healthy then you are nothing.
You are in a growing phase. You get many physical and mental changes so it's very important to have nutritious food every time you eat. Don't try to do any kind of strict diet to become slimmer. What is the benefit of being a zero figure if you don't even have any energy to lift some weight?
You should take some extra care of your health if you are a girl because you go through periods every month. So you need to have healthy and nutritious food. Don't compromise your health if someone says "You look fat". You are living your life for yourself and not for those who are saying this. Don't sacrifice your happiness for what others think.
Take care of your health. If you are fat try to do some workout and have a healthy diet. There is no need to do strict diet and high-intensity workouts which makes you feel drained out. Listen to your body. Be kind to your body. Don't compromise your health because health is wealth. 5. Technology dependence.
Overestimating the positive impact of technology on social connections and underestimating its negative effects on mental health and relationships.
Teenagers are addicted to their phones and technology. Whenever someone says something negative about it you feel like what is this bro these people don't know anything. You are always in favor of technology and never go against it.
People nowadays love things and use people, whereas people in the olden days used to love people and use things.
If you think technology is an essential part of our lives then you are correct but also keep this one thing in mind it is just a gadget and like everything it also has pros and cons. If I tell in science Language then every action has an equal and opposite reaction. If there hot then there is cold, it there is big then there is small and if there is positive then there is negative.
Whenever you are thinking about something or making any decision then be neutral, neither in favor nor against it. So, be neutral and think about it once you notice that it has the same negative effects as it has positive. Then you will realize that you had some wrong conception about it.
6. Underestimating parents' experience and perspectives.
As I said teenagers have a misconception that they think their friends are everything to them and they will last for the rest of your life. This is also a big misconception of teenagers that they always underestimate their parent's experience and perspectives.
They give more value and time to their friends than parents and family. They believe their parents are their enemies. Yes, I agree sometimes parents become more strict and unfriendly but whatever they do, they do it just for your better future. They have many life experiences which you can't even imagine. They learned many life lessons from their struggles which they want you to know. They don't want you to repeat the same mistake which they did.
You should feel very lucky for yourself because you have someone in your life who keeps interrupting you whenever you are wrong. People who do not have people in their lives to stop, scold or interrupt them, are mostly tend to go in the wrong direction.
So you should be very proud to have caring parents. Never disappoint your parents because they are the ones in your life who really want you to be successful. They are your well-wishers, mentors, motivators, teachers and family so always listen to them. Because when you grow up you will realize how right your parents were and how wrong you were
7. Financial literacy.
Finance is the most important thing in everyone's life. Everyone wants to become rich but they don't want to learn about it. If health is wealth then wealth is health. Teenagers don't pay much attention to finance.
Not only you but most of the teenagers don't understand the value of money until they enter their 20s. Most millionaires and billionaires start to plan their financial literacy in their teenage or early 20s.
Stop wasting your money on unnecessary things like showing off. Teenagers waste a lot of money but don't know how to earn it. So will say you don't have any right to waste your parent's money on bullshit things if you don't know how to earn. First, earn it by yourself then waste it as much as you can then you will realise how much hard work it takes to earn money.
Try to become financially independent from your 20's and you'll achieve it if you start it from your teenage. Whether you believe it or not money is everything. It will increase your power, respect, reputation and everything. So don't underestimate the power of money.
There is a multitude of misconceptions commonly seen among teenagers but I thought these are the most common ones. I think you can relate to all of these. Even if you still think you are right and if you thing these misconceptions are not really misconceptions then you are going to regret about it in the future.
